Jesse Rodriguez has a pretty exciting job for a 13-year-old, working for his friend Buck at a small flight and skydiving school near Seattle. But he still can't wait to turn 16 and finally be old enough to make his first free-fall jump from a plane.

      This suspenseful story from the Gary Paulsen World of Adventure series uphold Paulsen's high standards of page-turning excitement and memorable characters. Thirteen-year-old Jesse and his friend, Robin, expose a crafty pilot carrying illegal cargo. Reader Jeff Woodman easily handles both genders and all ages. The soft hesitancy of young Jesse, menacing tones of Pete the pilot, and gruff concern of Buck are particularly noteworthy. A slight shift in voice renders characters feminine, but not weak and wispy.
